One of the Island's most prestigious hotels is celebrating the launch of its new food proposition in partnership with the renowned 'Harbour Lights' brand.
The Sefton Hotel's famed 'Sir Norman's' bar has recently come under the direction of Harbour Lights, eighteen months after its popular 'Harbour Lights at the Sefton' restaurant was launched there. As well as having benefitted from a recent refurbishment including of its furniture, Sir Norman's customers can now enjoy dining from a new menu which is based on a 'gastropub' concept.
The furniture includes new comfortable lounge seating, as well as a number of tall tables with bar stools, perfect for watching football or simply relaxing in a wine bar atmosphere. The bar now opens between 4pm and midnight during the week, and between midday and midnight at weekends, with food served daily until 10pm. Read more...
Two Manx charities are set to benefit from the recent refurbishment of Sefton Group plc restaurants.
Furniture from Paragon Bar at the BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel and Casino and Sir Norman's Bar at the Sefton Hotel has been donated to 'Crossroads Care' and 'Boards and Brews' coffee shop respectively. The tables and leather dining chairs given to Crossroads*, which is the leading provider of practical and emotional support for carers living on the Isle of Man, will be sold in their Interiors shop on Windsor Road in Douglas. Proceeds from this facility are used to support its various services across the Island including a Young Carers project, an all-inclusive nursery and a Day Centre which supports elderly people with care needs. The Palace Bingo will host a fundraising event next month in support of a Manx charity designed to improve facilities and support for teenagers and young adults who have complex and life-threatening medical conditions.
A charity Bingo Night will take place on Tuesday 20 September in aid of 'Bridge the Gap', which was established by Foxdale resident Fiona Barker, along with family and friends, to support teenagers when their medical care is transferred from children's to adult services at the age of 16. The charity is working with Youth Services and Noble's Hospital to create the position of a Youth Worker at the hospital. Patients will receive friendship and support from the charity's Youth Worker in a safe and age-appropriate environment at Noble's, as well as meet other users to form a peer support network. The Sefton Group has appointed Joanne Durber to social media marketing assistant.
Born and raised in the Isle of Man, Ms Durber is a University of Chester English Literature graduate. She has worked for one of the island’s leading legal practices as website project co-ordinator during which time she received the Isle of Man STEP scheme’s Most Enterprising Runner-Up Student award. While studying on the Ella Olesen scholarship at the University of Idaho she also spent time as a radio reporter and contributed to a number of publications both there and in the Isle of Man.
